In 2016, 11,869,000 young adults in the U.S. between the ages 16 - 19 were unemployed, and 1,177,000 were unemployed AND not attending school. In 2015, 3,385,000 children were living in low-income housing where no adult was employed.

My goal is to help these statistics decrease. I want to help children realize that our families cannot give us what they don't have – including knowledge - but it doesn't mean that we can't do the work and make our own way. I want to teach children how to prepare themselves for a successful journey on their career paths. Many of our youth are lost because they are not armed with the tools and information they need to make better choices. I want them to understand that although we cannot choose the circumstances we are born into, we don't have to allow them to define us.

The Get to Work!™ Program provides the foundation for introducing our youth into the workforce. We may not always start out knowing exactly where we want to go and what field we want to work in, but the decisions become easier and clearer when we are introduced to more options as early as possible.

I was 35 years old before I found a career path that I could live with, but wasn’t satisfied until I started to live my dream. It is my prayer that these programs provide the knowledge and clarity that our youth need to become successful adults and the courage to pursue their dreams.
